Jim Clark, director of operations at Saline, Mich.-based McNaughton & Gunn, shares how his primarily trade book manufacturing operation replaced some digital toner-based printers about a year ago with an Océ VarioPrint i300 sheetfed color production inkjet printing press from Canon Solutions America. Initially drawn by the VarioPrint i300's quick job changeover capabilities and ability to run the same papers used on its offset presses, Clark says more color text pages are being diverted to the new inkjet press, which has been consistently achieving 97% uptime rates. His company's next investment will be in its bindery, just to keep up with the high inkjet printing output.
